You know the feeling, why is it like that? That’s how it all started, why can’t I have a great breakfast at 2pm? Because that’s what I really fancy! When we started Rock Salt we felt we could offer something different, great food, flexible timing in a relaxed setting and cooked by somebody with real skill and passion.
Now to that person with real skill and passion, that was easy, our chef Dave. He is the one behind it all, who the rest of the family put all their belief in, because he is the one with the vision and the skill to deliver it! He has worked for years around the West Country mainly in fine dining and then (his lucky day!) he met Chantel. His now wife, from Australia, is the one who he travelled with and fuels his excitement for Asian food.
So with help from father Steve and brother Rob they pulled the Mechanics Arms into the 21st century and Stonehouse suddenly had a new cafe on the scene! Sister Louise made sure the painting and decorating was up to scratch and then turned her hand to making the best coffees this side of town and mother Jean, as an ex social workers keeps the place ticking along in harmony!
Since then we’ve become part of the Plymouth dining scene and gathered some impressive awards including Best Restaurant and Best Chef Food Magazine and mentions in the AA Restaurant Guide and Waitrose Good Food Guide.
As a Plymouth born and bred family, the vision is simple really, we just want the customer to be happy!
